JV Baseball Ends Season with a Walk Off WinPosted Thursday, May 28, 2009 by Mat Bruno Not to take away from the excitement of Sectional playoffs, but for the JV squad, there win on Tuesday solidifies what they have been working for all year. The play at the plate was one that ESPN highlights are made of. In fact, the entire game should be an ESPN highlight with the defensive plays from Derek Totten and Sean Schoeman. The play at the plate was close but ultimately went to With that win, the JV Baseball Garnets take there overall record to 13-5 and there league record to 8-2. “ During pre-season you hope that it turns out like this. But when it actually happens, well, its just a great feeling. I am so happy for the kids. They are a great bunch of ball players.” says Bruno. And so ends another great season for the JV squad. All year, they have worked hard and won close games. We questioned if they could continue there winning ways in this fashion. I guess they showed us they could. In this reporters opinion, these kids deserve all the accolades they receive. For 9th and 10th graders to play as well as they did and to win games the way they did- just shows me that they are ready for the next level. And with that victory behind them, they will look to cheer on the Varsity team who is playing in the first round of Sectional playoffs this Saturday. |
