RYE - A Ryan Breslin run in extra innings gave the Rye Garnets a 2-1 victory over the league rival Harrison Huskies Tuesday.

The Huskies led 1-0 at the end of the first when Mike Chiarella scored after a single from Harrison catcher Mike Jacobson.

Breslin then tied it in the bottom of the third off a single from Garnets' Paul Mundinger.

It was neck and neck all the way until the eighth inning when Breslin touched home for the one run the Garnets needed for the victory off a Christian Fumasoli hit and a controversial Jacobson dropped ball at the plate.

"We just couldn't get it done," said Harrison Head Coach Marco DiRuocco.

He and the rest of the Huskies intend to redeem themselves in their next game.

"We gotta bounce back and stay positive," he said. "There's nothing you can do."

The Huskies will receive just the opportunity they are looking for when they host Rye at home on Thursday in the second game of their series.

Rye Head Coach Mike Bruno was pleased about the Garnets win over a tough Harrison team.

"It's Harrison," he said. "It's great to get a win."

Harrison Pitcher Zach Eklund struckout nine and walked one in seven innings pitched.

Rye's Fumasoli pitched six innings while Forest Henderson pitched two in mid-relief for the win.

The win gives the Garnets a 5-0 record in a league that includes Port Chester, and Byram Hills, along with the Garnets and Huskies.
